Call us biased, but we here at Center Acura think that product placement in movies and television—especially as it pertains to automobiles—is a very good thing. What action film worth its weight in popcorn is going to run from opening to closing credits without at least one great car chase? And if there are going to be great car chases, why not make use of the fantastic automobiles that are legitimately the world’s best already?
Take, for example, the Acura 2012 Stark Industries Super Car (essentially a jacked up NSX concept), which will be appearing in the upcoming blockbuster superhero film, “The Avengers.” When the NSX hit auto shows last month, we got a very good sense of how awesome a vehicle it’s going to be, but with the technology that the fictional techno-genius Tony Stark has at his disposal, one can only imagine what the Monroney for his mega-version of the vehicle would really look like.
We say “one can only imagine” knowing full and well that one has been circulating around the internet over the course of the last week, and is it ever an entertaining little piece of fiction. With a sticker price of $9,229,000, the Stark Super Car would nearly quadruple the most expensive real car in the world, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports, valued at $2.4 million. But, with features that include holographic image projection and fuel efficiency in the 234/302 mpg range, we suppose Robert Downey, Jr. is getting what he pays for. In Los Angeles, Acura cars like this will probably never exist, but that won’t stop us from buying a ticket to “The Avengers” later this summer and dreaming about it. Perhaps someday it will happen. Probably not, but perhaps.
